The Bermuda Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean, some 1,000 km from North America and are a British overseas territory. They consist of over 150 volcanic islands, with deposited coral formations. The islands were discovered in 1522 by the Spaniard Juan de Bermudez. They have been English colony since 1684, and since 1968 they have a statute of a self-governing British overseas territory.

The islands are overgrown with lush tropical vegetation and thick mangrove forests. Potatoes, vegetables, bananas and flowers are grown on the little part of arable land. Lilies are the basic commodity for export. Yachts and boats are built here, and pharmaceutical and perfumery production are developed.

Tourism is the main industry branch in the Bermuda Islands economy.
